Welcome to the AdSense Site Approval Series. My name is Aurora and I work in policy education for publishers at Google. This series takes a closer look at the different criteria required by Google AdSense to help you get your content ready for approval.

In this article, I'll define quality content.
What does good content look like?
How does this qualify you for AdSense approval?
What does bad content look like?
Let's get started! Oh, I'm so sorry! Andy is calling. He really does have perfect timing! Hey, Andy!Hey,
Aurora! I'm just in my culinary workshop, experimenting with new and exciting cordon bleu concepts for my supper club website! That's amazing, Andy!
What are you cooking today?
Actually, I'm creating a range of delectable recipes and how-to article as an additional part of the site, to entice people to come to my supper club and try the full experience!
That sounds great, Andy! A feast for the eyes, as well as the belly!Exactly! You know that scientists say that 99% of our taste buds are actually in our eyes. Check that out! If only I could master the approvals of the website the way I've mastered this brioche!
I wondered if you could help?
It says my site contains some low-quality content. I take offense at that! I only use the finest ingredients.
Well, let's take a look at how we define good-quality content and go from there, shall we?
Before you can start monetizing a site, you need to be sure that your content provides a unique and valuable experience for visitors. A better site with fewer pages will be more effective than a large website with poor-quality content. It's worth making sure you have enough content or articles that we can determine what the site is about. I should have dozens of bespoke recipes up there very shortly. Like this baked Alaska! It's deconstructed. Good content encourages your visitors to spend more time on the site and invites them to return later on. If you're providing high-quality and original content, you're already in a good position compared to other sites. It's a key tool in managing the site over time too.
You need to be sure that the content on your site is updated whenever necessary. Consistently adding new content will keep the site fresh, and generate more returning visitors. You'll also want to make sure there's no duplicate content. So don't repeat long sections of copy, or have multiple versions of the same article on your site. Or too much content linked from other pages. Right...
Well, my site does link to a lot of other recipe articles. But that's exactly what I'm addressing, by creating content from these Michelin-standard amuse bouches. Then you're going in the right direction. By creating your own recipes, you're contributing your own special knowledge, which helps explain what content you're putting on the platform. Improvement ideas, or even reviews, can help visitors if they're browsing this content, and make it original to you.
You need to give substantial added value to the user, to qualify for AdSense approval. Well, my recipes taste delicious. But I think my presentation skills might leave something to be desired.
When I've fully eliminated the bad content from my site, then everything will be okay?
Exactly. Bad content makes it very unattractive for advertisers. Replicated, scraped, or duplicate content simply doesn't drive traffic like original content. Good site management, ensuring consistency of your content will also help ensure a better user experience. There should be standards, too.
No dangerous or illegal content will ever be approved. If you need more information about that, you can check our Google publisher policies, linked in the description. That's given me some great ideas. I could add a comment section, create reviews...
I've certainly got opinions! But that's the kind of thing that might get visitors to return, right?
Yes! And it's a great resource for others too. You just might need to dedicate some time to administrating that. And it's worth remembering, that you are responsible for those comments, so you'll have to moderate them carefully. How very exciting! I'm feeling more and more positive about this site getting approved. So with that two-week turnaround for approvals, I'll really have time to perfect that sourdough recipe.
I've been thinking about it!Great! If you want to find out more details about traffic, please check the links in the description. And I'll look forward to seeing how your idea progresses, Andy. I'll be talking about navigation next. Keep it in mind. And maybe stick to some less complex recipes! Thanks, Aurora! That's good advice. I think it's time to simplify the recipes on my website, to something appetizing and easy to make. I think I'll start with sandwich recipes! What can go wrong with making those, eh? That sounds great, Andy! And that's our introduction to quality content.
